Combining Traditional Optics with Thermal Imaging
A new Fusion Thermal Reflex Sight from InfiRay Outdoor, the FAH25/1X34D, has recently been introduced, expanding upon the popular FAL19/1X34D model from last year. The FAH25/1X34D combines the advantages of traditional reflex sights with thermal imaging capabilities, offering exceptional versatility in both daylight and nighttime conditions. The new version of the sight brings several enhancements, improving image quality and extending the range, making it an ideal tool for hunters, sport shooters, and tactical teams.
New Features and Upgrades of the InfiRay FAH25/1X34D
The InfiRay FAH25/1X34D features a larger 25 mm lens with an F1.0 aperture, which ensures better light transmission and clearer images. A key update is the use of a higher-resolution thermal sensor with 640×512 pixels, providing more detailed thermal images, which enhances target recognition.
Other sensor specifications remain unchanged: the pixel size is 12 μm, with a NETD sensitivity of ≤25 mK, ensuring high-quality imagery in challenging environments. The refresh rate of 50 Hz guarantees a smooth and clear image, which is particularly important for dynamic situations.
Increased Range and Field of View
The new InfiRay FAH25 Fusion Thermal Reflex Sight offers an expanded field of view compared to the previous model. The thermal field of view now measures 17.5° x 14°, an improvement over the FAL19‘s 13.8° × 10.4°. Thanks to the higher-resolution sensor, the FAH25 can detect targets at distances up to 590 meters, a significant increase from the 450 meters range of the FAL19. It’s important to note that the stated range refers to target recognition (the minimum distance at which the device can detect a target using at least 6 pixels), which differs from the commonly advertised detection range based on only 2 pixels.
Operating Modes of the InfiRay FAH25 Fusion Thermal Reflex Sight
The InfiRay FAH25/1X34D offers various modes for displaying the thermal image on its 34 mm x 25 mm OLED screen located within the optical channel. In addition to the standard reflex sight mode (with a battery life of up to 65 hours), the user can choose from modes for highlighting hot objects’ outlines (Target Outline), illuminating the entire object surface (Target Highlight), and a full thermal mode.
In thermal mode, the FAH25 operates for at least 4 hours using two CR123 batteries. Additionally, the device is compatible with 3.7 V batteries and supports external power via USB-C, offering more flexibility for prolonged use.
Durability and Weapon Compatibility
The InfiRay FAH25 is designed for weapon mounting and is highly resistant to shocks – it can withstand 1200 g of impact for 0.3 ms. Additionally, the sight can be equipped with a 3x magnification attachment that mounts using a QD (Quick Detach) system.
The sight weighs 652 grams and features a housing rated IP67, meaning it is highly resistant to water and dust. This makes the InfiRay FAH25 well-suited for use in harsh weather conditions, whether in the field or during nighttime operations.
